The characteristic warmth of Seville in summer is mixed with a colorful agenda of cultural plans. There's no need for an excuse to visit!

Exhibitions

• A panorama of current art. Permanent exhibition at the Hospital de los Venerables. Throughout 2018. The Focus Collection (Seville Culture Fund Foundation) has been gathering an important sample of pieces, paintings and works on paper by contemporary authors. The exhibition is a good plan to appreciate the strokes and perspectives of authors such as Carmen Laffón, Antonio López or Fernando Botero, whom together with other authors complete a selection of more than 200 works. Free admission the first Thursday of the month. 

Monuments and Routes

• Night visits to the Palacio de las Dueñas (The Palace of the Dukes of Alba). Thursday July  12 and 26 at 8:15 p.m. These guided itineraries that last an hour and a half are an ideal way to get to know the artistic collections and different rooms of the palace, as well as the history of the building. Without a doubt, an appetizing activity to enjoy a summer night while relishing its patio or gardens. Tickets are 12 euros, and should be purchased ahead of time.

• Night Routes «Seville Under the Stars». Every Thursday of summer at 9:00 p.m., except August 16. Twelve routes with ten different proposals that take on Seville and its history. A few night tours to discover a little more of Magellan, Murillo, Adriano's Seville, Triana or the Cathedral, among others. More info on the themes by night, schedules and tickets here.

Theatre

• The Children of Murillo, in the Tower of Don Fadrique (Espacio Santa Clara). From Wednesday to Sunday in July (see specific schedule), schedules vary depending on the day. Framed within the Murillo Year programming, the work unites dance, live art and video mapping. The show created by José María Roca lasts approximately half an hour. If you still haven't seen this monumental medieval tower, thanks to this plan, you have the perfect opportunity to do so.

• "Open Sky" Cycle, at the Ceramics Center of Triana in Seville. Specific days until Friday, July 13, 10:00 p.m. The second edition of this theater series brings together the performances of four companies. Very different proposals that leave echoes of Shakespeare and stories of the city's history in the summer night air. 

• The women of Pilate, dramatized visits to La Casa de Pilatos (Pilate's House). Thursday, July 12 and 26; Thursday August 9 and 23, all from 10 p.m. Also contemplated within the activities of the Murillo Year, this particular activity will take visitors through the rooms of the palace house and the history of the families that inhabited it. It will do so with the peculiarity of the feminine vision to instill the visitor with the remnants that different women left in the Casa de Pilatos, without forgetting the gestures of the female mythological figures. Cinema

• CICUS Summer Cinema. Throughout the summer on specific days. This year the cycle pays homage to the great director Billy Wilder. His most outstanding works can be seen this summer in the courtyard of the CICUS in its original version. But the Center for Cultural Initiatives from the University of Seville offers much more than this film series. There are exhibitions, dance, theater, concerts and other activities. • «Asómate al patio» (Show up on the Patio), Summer Cinema by the Sevilla City Council 10:15 p.m. One of the most popular summer activities in Seville is the traditional summer cinema on the City Council's patio. The program includes a selection of premieres from last year that combine well with great classics like To Kill a Mockingbird. Tickets are €4. You can see the complete schedule here.

Music

• Jazz Cycle at the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art Seville. Select Tuesdays and Wednesdays until August 29. 9:30 p.m. The CAAC is already a family enclave for music lovers in the city. Jazz concerts and jam sessions will add rhythm to the Sevillian night while enjoying the surroundings of La Cartuja Monastery when the heat calls a truce. Entrance to the jam sessions is free.

• XIX Nights in the Gardens of the Alcázar. Until 8 September. From Monday to Saturday at 10:30 p.m. The concerts of the Alcázar Gardens mark the beginning of cultural plans in summer. Like other editions, the concerts will be framed within different musical styles: ancient music, classical music, flamenco, world music and other music. Here you can see all the programming. 

• Concert series «Live the Roof». Selected dates from June 9 to September 14, on the rooftop bar of Hotel Inglaterra. This cycle of seven concerts will bring together several names of the Spanish independent scene such as Mikel Erentxun, Zahara, and Sidonie. Intimate concerts with the new perspective of ascending a rooftop bar in Seville. More information about prices and dates here. 

• XX Edition of the Seville Flamenco Biennial. From September 6 to 30. Every two years the flamenco origins of Seville are reborn in a new flamenco biennial. This event indulges a great display of shows and activities in different locations that can be consulted by clicking here.
  

Humor

• Monologue nights at Manhattan River Bar Sevilla. Every Monday in July. The comedic plan also has its space within the summer cultural offer. Humorists like Javi Nemo or Antonio Ocaña are some of the names that will be performing at this terrace bar by the river. An activity not to be missed, among other things, because access is free and having a good time is guaranteed.
