If you are passionate about nature and are passing through Seville, a visit to Cañada de los Pájaros (Valley of the Birds) is a must. This natural environment located in the Doñana region is home to a large population of birds and a unique landscape of marshes.
Only 24 kilometers separate Seville from the Cañada de los Pájaros, located in the municipality of La Puebla del Río. This area, which today has become a highly valuable wetland thanks to its biodiversity, is home to an excellent sampling of endangered species. Specifically, it is a strategic place for the nesting of many species and the winter residence for many birds that come to Doñana.
Many who visit this environment do so to enjoy bird watching. We recommend that you go equipped with a camera and binoculars. It can be a great activity to do with children or just as a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Of course, you have to remain silent inside the cabins by the river if you want to look closely at species such as the flamingo, duck or black stork. These are just a few examples of the representation of the European avifauna, which in this environment ranges from 150-200 species.
La Cañada de los Pájaros is open all year round from 10 a.m. to sunset. You can go on a free or guided visit. Check with them for more information on prices and availability. Additionally, you can also buy products made in the area at their shop.
